Poodll Anywhere in Atto looks like this:

Poodll Anywhere in TinyMCE looks like this:

However there are times when the icons simply do not appear. This is a common support related enquiry that we get here at Poodll HQ. Well lets explain it. Assume that the icons will always show, except under the conditions following…

Reason #1:  File attachment restrictions

Poodll Anywhere can be used in almost all areas of Moodle where there is an html editor. But when the html area does not allow file attachments, Poodll will be unavailable and you will not see it on the toolbar. This is usually true of the essay question type. Though it is possible to allow file attachments there, and if attachments are allowed then Poodll with show. The Assignment feedback type “feedback comments,” also does not accept file attachments. These are the two main areas we hear users asking about.

Reason #2:  Editor toolbar settings

For Poodll Anywhere to display at all, it must be added to the editor’s toolbar settings:

For Atto

Site admin -> Plugins -> Text Editors -> Atto HTML Editor -> Toolbar settings

For TinyMCE

Site admin -> Plugins -> Text Editors -> TinyMCE HTML Editor -> General settings

Reason #3:  Poodll admin settings

The icons can also be globally hidden or displayed from the Poodll Anywhere settings page in the site admin area. This is at:

Site admin -> Plugins -> Text Editors -> Atto HTML Editor -> Poodll Anywhere(Atto)

OR

Site admin -> Plugins -> Text Editors -> TinyMCE HTML Editor -> Poodll Anywhere(TinyMCE)

Reason #4:  Role settings

i) When the atto/poodll:visible permission has been revoked from a particular role, users of that role won’t see Poodll Anywhere icons. The default is that students and greater can see them however.

ii) When any of the individual Poodll Anywhere recorder icon related permissions have been revoked from a particular role, users of that role won’t see Poodll Anywhere icons. The default is that students and greater can see all icons however. Those permissions are (in the case of Atto):

atto/poodll:allowaudiomp3
atto/poodll:allowaudiored5
atto/poodll:allowvideo
atto/poodll:allowwhiteboard
atto/poodll:allowsnapshot

atto/poodll:allowwidgets

And in the case of TinyMCE ..

tinymce/poodll:allowaudiomp3
tinymce/poodll:allowaudiored5
tinymce/poodll:allowvideo
tinymce/poodll:allowwhiteboard
tinymce/poodll:allowsnapshot
